Workout and post-workout meal

So I went to the gym today (Arrillaga, my second home) and lifted first and then ran on the treadmill. Today was a benchpress day and the goal was to build up to 10 reps of 150 pounds. I weigh about 130 pounds, so I think that is pretty good for my size. Way back in September, my max was 120 pounds for 10 reps, so I have come a long ways over the past 5 months. I accomplished my goal on the bench so that made me happy and the rest of the weighlifitng was fun. I did some cable crossovers, biceps, and abs afterwards.

Following the weights, I ran on the treadmill for 41 minutes covering 6 miles. My foot has been injured for way too long (since early November) and it is finally getting back into shape to where I can run on it! I chose to run on the treadmill because it absorbs the shock better than the pavement paths around the Stanford campus. Hopefully, I will feel confident enough about my foot in the coming weeks to run outdoors again.

I just finished eating some delicious extra lean burger patties from Trader Joe’s. I am becoming a George Foreman master! At 25 grams of protein for each patty and only 150 calories/4% fat, eating a couple of these is a great way to feed the muscles after a good workout. I have found it is very important to get some protein in immediately after a hard workout. This prevents soreness the next day and allows the muscles to repair efficiently.

This weekend wasn’t particularly eventful, the best party was on Thursday night – bar review at F&A’s. I guess I am going to have to hit up bar reviews more often!
