I had a totally awesome afternoon surfing at Half Moon Bay. What a beautiful spot – only a little over 30 minutes away from Palo Alto. First we learned the basic do and don’t of surfing on the beach and then we hit the waves. This was my first time on a surf board so the waves were just big enough to catch a ride and get the adrenalin pumping, but not so big that a complete novice like me would get pounded. The weather seemed less than idyllic in the morning, but fortunately the sun was out in the afternoon and the outside temps weren’t too bad when we were at the beach. Of course, the water was still cold (and always is around here) coming in at about 51 degrees! However, in a wet suit and with the sunny skies it wasn’t too bad. I also had the benefit of warming up over a great dinner at the Half Moon Bay Brewery and many cups of hot tea 🙂
