A close shot of a ptarmigan. There were many in the rocks and gravel when I passed in the morning.

Mighty Johannesburg Mountain. The North Face of Johannesburg towers a mile above the North Fork Cascade River valley floor. Behind J-burg is Mount Buckindy and the Buckindy crags.

Glacier Peak is on the left and Mount Rainier can be seen in the distance just right of center. Rainier has not been this clear from the North Cascades since early/mid July.
