Pescadero Super Loop

Pescadero Creek Park, together Sam MacDonald Park and Memorial Park, form the Pescadero Complex of county parks in the central Santa Cruz Mountains. The scenery is gorgeous and varied, including lush redwood forest, ridge vistas, grassy meadows, and stream crossings. In addition, there were two sections of old growth, one along Canyon Trail, and the other at Shaw Flat. The trail network in these parks is well planned and well maintained. On this day, Gary Gellin and I did a 20.2 mile loop with 3,850 feet of climbing, and were joined by Brian on the first 9 miles of the run. We grabbed water at the Hikers Hut in Sam MacDonald (mile 7.2) and the Portola Redwoods Visitor Center (mile 14). The weather was unbeleivable for mid-November and I was able to leave the shirt behind from the start at 8 am. Enjoy the photographs!

    Hello,
I really enjoy your website have been to many of the same places and your photos are very nice. Was just wondering if you could tell me the closest location to where this rustic cabin on the Tarwater Trail is, I don’t recall ever seeing it I’ve hiked this area so many times it’s has me a bit confused.
    Thanks,
    David
