El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve

Today I ran at El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve. It was awesome! This park is located on the western side of Skyline Blvd with views to the Pacific Ocean. The terrain ranges from about 1000 ft to 2,300 ft and all the trails are generally hilly. There are both narrow and wide trails with signs at every intersection.

The park is heavily forested with second growth redwoods making for some fantastic shaded runs. I ran for 68 minutes and I only saw a few mountain bikers. I felt like I was deep in the mountains at points. I looked at the map carefully before starting, but I still took a couple wrong turns from the route I had hoped to run. I think I got in around 9 miles with plenty of elevation gain and loss. I am excited to return to this park next week and explore more of the park. I also want to run at Wunderlich county park and Huddart county park in the coming weeks.
