Castle Rock State Park

Castle Rock State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains features miles of beautiful trails. The park is most known for its impressive sandstone formations, including Castle Rock and Goat Rock. However, the park’s excellent network of trails also afford sweeping views and pass through pleasant forest. On a clear day from the Saratoga Gap Trail or Ridge Trail one can gaze over an expansive carpet of lush redwoods in the interior Santa Cruz Mountains and San Lorenzo river watershed. The views extend all the way out to Monterey Bay shimmering in the distance and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Castle Rock Falls (seasonal) can be viewed from the Saratoga Gap Trail and the upper reaches of the San Lorenzo River are crossed along the Travertine Springs Trail. Here are some photos from a recent hike at Castle Rock with the complete album here.
